Day 2 Reflection

Today we practiced our presentations and prepared materials needed for the promotion of our service learning project. We split up into different groups in which we tackled the jobs of a bulletin board, a business card and three separate presentations for Sage Hill students. I enjoyed today's work because it gave me a chance to further my knowledge of KIVA and get an idea of what we will be doing for the rest of the year. After splitting into these groups and finishing our tasks, we then went to the mmlh to practice our presentations to mock audiences. I was able to get good feedback on how to improve my presentation and how to make myself more enjoyable when I speak. In addition, we provided critique for our peers and the criticism I received were points that I had never thought of before.
As we were working on our project I felt very aligned with my community. We were all working towards the common goal of effectively preparing ourselves for future business visits and projects. We bounced ideas off each other and listened to each opinion as a group. I learned how to work well with my group and listen to their ideas in a respectful and studious manner. Throughout our practice runs today and multiple times of speaking, I was able to grow as a speaker and learned how to persevere through times in which I feel nervous. I still hope to further improve as an individual and speaker and look forward to my role in KIVA.
